Hunter Boots - A Must Have

Here in Tennessee we've been having awful January weather!

It's not cold. It's not snowing; there is no ice. But it HAS been raining... endlessly. Or at least it feels like it.

It is more like spring right now instead of winter.

Thank goodness, though, I bought a pair of Hunter boots a few years ago.

They are expensive, but so worth it. When I finally broke down and bought them, we had just moved to New England.

I have gotten so much wear out of them. Best of all, you can wear them all year long. I've worn them in every season. Mine have trekked through snow and jumped massive puddles.

I highly recommend that you invest in a pair. I wear my black Hunter boots with everything - - dresses, jeans, shorts, and leggings!!

A Teacher's Fashion

This has to be one of my favorite Linky Parties EVER!!!

I love fashion almost as much as teaching!

Here are the guidelines...
1. Tell me your favorite store(s) that you like to get your "teacher's fashion".
2. What are some of your favorite accessories?
3. What type of shoes do you teach in? (i.e. heels, flats, wedges, etc.)
4. Do you have a "go-to" item in your closet? (i.e. sweater you wear weekly, shoes you wear daily, etc.)
5. Have you ever had a fashion "uh-oh" at school? (i.e. heel broke)

1.Favorite Stores:

I love both of these stores! I can find great deals and I love the mixing and matching available at both of these stores. Loft has a great Petite selection!

2.Favorite Accessories:

I heart my watch! I scored mine from Ebay!

This is not my exact handbag, but close enough. Mine is shiny! I love me some Michael Kors!

I wear lots of jewelry to spice up my outfits. I wear everything from interesting rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces. This is my newest bracelet. I really like it. It mixes the gold and silver look together in one piece. Check out Sira & Mara for great jewelry at even greater prices!

And of course the Bubble Necklace is popular! I have one in yellow that I got from Ebay. Original J. Crew Bubble Necklaces go for around $150. So check out Ebay instead. I paid under $15.

3.Shoes:

I wear all kinds of shoes to school (except you will hardly ever find me in a pair of tennis shoes at work).

I sport flats, heels, boots, sandals and flipflops. Here are some shoes on my wish list:

I would love to have a pair of these Hunter Wellies! They have a British version, too, with the British flag. How adorable for those living in England!

4.Go-to-Item(s):

My other go-to-item...

the skinny belt! I wear these a lot. They give a pop of color to many outfits.

5.Fashion Uh-Oh!

Yes, I had one! Actually is was really funny!

At my old school, we had those tennis balls on the bottom of the chairs.

Well, I stepped right in one with my heel piercing through the hole. I was walking around for a minute or two and was wondering what felt strange, when I looked down, there was the yellow ball.

Ha, Ha!

We snapped a picture of it for the yearbook. I'll have to dig up that picture and post it!

Fashion Friday

Here is a simple outfit I threw together this week. I love the anchor tee I found at J.Crew a few weeks ago. It looked great paired with the stripe shorts. I just bought the shoes this week from Old Navy on sale. They are so cute and comfortable!

I know that J. Crew is not in everyone's budget. Here are some tips I have though if you would like to shop without breaking the bank.

1. I rarely buy anything from J. Crew full price - why? - they offer an educators discount on everything! My local store doesn't even ask for my i.d. although carrying it with you is a good idea. Unlike other stores that offer a teacher discount, you can use it on full price, sale, clearance, and at the outlet stores.

2. They run sales a lot. For example, I love the pencils skirts. I have yet to pay full price for one. They will run specials sometimes or I just wait until they go on sale. I usually get a pencil skirt for under $50 when the full retail price is $150. That is quite a savings. I can really mix and match the skirts too - even the crazy bright ones. Also it is easy to find your size. Even when items go one sale, I usually don't have trouble finding my size. The sales associates will help me track one down if I can't find my size and get it mailed directly to me.

3. You can opt to open a credit card and save a percentage on your first purchase using the card. This could be a great option if you want to splurge and get a few new things for the beginning of the school year. (Think "sales tax free" days offered in some states, plus teacher discount, plus credit card discount - see it doesn't seem so impossible anymore).

4. Shop the J. Crew Factory store right from home! You can access the Factory store on the internet - although it isn't as much fun and offers a little less then the actual outlet stores.

5. Check out ebay! I have seen some great pencils skirts, jewelry and more on ebay. In fact my yellow bubble necklace seen here was a steal on ebay! It retails for $150 on J.Crew.com, but I scored it on ebay for under $15 with free shipping!!

Friday Fashion

Yesterday and today I attended iPad training. It has been HOT in NC, so I thought this would be a perfect outfit to wear. I usually lounge around in gym shorts and a tee in the summer, but for a workshop, I wanted something a bit more professional yet comfortable. I added the sweater because although it is hot outside, being inside with the ac blasting can give me the chills.

I love the blue and white stripes and yellow paired together! Thanks to a friend of mine, Tonya, I was able to track down this dress at Old Navy. I had seen other blue and white stripe dresses, but they were all maxi dresses and way to long for my petite legs!

Casual Summer Days

Since it is summer, I spend more days in casual clothing. This is an outfit I paired together this weekend. I love this bright yellow shirt from J. Crew. {Best of all, J. Crew offers teachers a discount on purchases.} I use this yellow shirt with many different bottoms from floral pencil skirts to patterned shorts. I also love adding a touch of coral with my accessories!

Now, off to hang out in the sun!
