Casual Summer Days

Since it is summer, I spend more days in casual clothing. This is an outfit I paired together this weekend. I love this bright yellow shirt from J. Crew. {Best of all, J. Crew offers teachers a discount on purchases.} I use this yellow shirt with many different bottoms from floral pencil skirts to patterned shorts. I also love adding a touch of coral with my accessories!

Now, off to hang out in the sun!

And The Winner Is...

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Congratulations Mindy!! I will be sending you an email soon with the gift certificate attached!

This Saturday has been a busy one! I had a long list of things I wanted to do today! First was a trip to the gym for spin class and then off to get a message :D

Next, I help the hubs with his "honey-do" list - shampooing the carpets.

Once finished, we were off to the pool to soak in some fun in the sun! {Don't let me fool you, we really wanted to just wear the kids out}

We then JUST HAD to have some ice-cream from Cold Stone Creamery. Yummy!

Finally, a trip to Lowe's to get the supplies for the last item on my "honey-do" (at least for today), which happened to be pinterest inspired.

Voila...

I am so proud of it! Weird, getting excited about laundry. What is wrong with me?!

Thanks honey!!

If you are interested in this project you will need 3-4 laundry baskets - mine are 71 L that we picked up from Target.

You will also need 2 70in. Double Track rails. Ours are from Lowe's, item #0107717. And 6-8 14in Double Track brackets. Again ours are from Lowe's, model #25204PHLLG.

Now off to pin some more projects for my "honey-do" list...

GIVEAWAY

I have reached over 60 followers! I thought it might be time for a giveaway! And since so many of us have a hard time turning off our "teacher" brains for the summer, I am giving away a gift certificate to Teachers Pay Teachers.

Who better to spend money on than all you wonderful and talented teachers who create and share with us!

Continue to read down the blog to enter my giveaway.

I have been busy already this summer - shopping, swimming, sleeping {all my fav. "s" words!!}

I have also been continuing my daily schedule as seen here. I try to keep up with my creative side {lol} by completing some of my favorite pinterest ideas. So far, this is what I have worked on:

What am I making? This...

I will be typing our third grade tier 3 vocabulary words for each story in our basil and add the words and rice to each bottle. This will become an activity that students can work on during the Daily 5.

Today each of my three children used their hand to create a monster. My daughter wanted a "rainbow" monster - how could I resist!! Once dry, I will add the finishing touches for a final product like this...

Finally, I completed this project yesterday...

This was so much fun and super easy! It was awesome watching the wax melt and ooze! All you need is a canvas board {mine is 9x12}, crayons, glue gun, and a hair dryer. Hot glue the crayons in the order of a rainbow {ROY G BIV} then use the hair dryer to melt. Place newspaper around the canvas to prevent splattering and dripping messes.
Easy Peasy!!

Now on to the GIVEAWAY! I will be using RaffleCopter. So go ahead enter..Good Luck!! And don't forget to pick up a copy of my "I Can Statements" in my TpT store!

Summer Task List and Blogger Meet-Up

I was so excited to see the announcement of a Carolina Blogger meet-up in Charlotte on Amber's blog this morning at Adventures of a Third Grade Teacher. I can't wait to meet some local, talented bloggers! If you are a Carolina blogger or reader, check out Amber's blog for more information.

On another note, today is my first official summer break day. Last week was teacher worker days and a quick family trip to the beach! My kids had so much fun soaking up the sun and surf!

So now I sit here updating my blog since it has been awhile since my last post. I was inspired by Abby at The Inspired Apple to begin a daily check list of projects/things I want to accomplish so that the days don't get away from me, and so that I don't get overwhelmed by the massive list I have in my brain of all the things that need to get done.

Today, I pulled out this chalkboard I bought awhile back from Pottery Barn Kids. I made my list for the things that can be accomplished today. Each day I will update the list with new tasks that I want to work on. My daughter even started a countdown in the corner for our next family vacation.

Now off to work on my list (now that the day is already 1/2 over)!! And cross off the last task...
